Ancient and Still: Día de los Muertos Artist Conversation and Tequila Tasting brought together photographer Kate Turning and sculptor Steven Jacobi for an evening rooted in the light, landscape, and spirit of Todos Santos, Baja. Turning shared her portraits of the rare Cirio trees—works that explore nature’s impermanence through digital experimentation—while Jacobi discussed the clay vessels and wall pieces shaped by the textures and history of Baja’s exposed terrain.

Together, their practices illuminated themes of time, transformation, and endurance, echoing the reflective essence of Día de los Muertos. Guests enjoyed an evening of conversation, art, and tequila that celebrated what is both ancient and still.
