My Folded Paper series, though more abstract, is essentially about the same things as I concern myself with in mymore traditional work from Mexico: The careful selection of shape and color to create light and space.My workisan attempt to create a thingof beauty and peace–beauty and peace in the spectator as well as beauty and peacein my soul while I paint it.

Biography
Andy received his BFA in painting in 1982 from the Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus, Ohio. Afterworking 30 years asan illustrator and graphic designer as well as running his design firm Dearwater Design for 25years, he started painting again, for himself. He has traveled to Ireland and Catalina Island, California to paint onlocation, and enjoys painting urban scenesfrom Houston’s near east and north sides. Andy moved to San Miguelde Allende, Mexico part-time in 2021 and has loved it ever since. He has traveled extensively in Mexico whichinspires his most recent works.
Artists Statement
My art does not attempt toprove anything–it does not attempt to moralize or preach. It does attempt to createsomething that is well done and cared for while being created–to reflect my current experience. It is an attemptto create a thing of beauty and peace–beauty and peace in the spectator as well as beauty and peace in my soulwhile I paint it.
